Best places to visit in Serbia

If you are a person who likes to travel, what is stopping you from visiting Serbia? I know it seems like an unknown destination with only one destination on your mind: the capital Belgrade.

But there is more to Serbia than just the city of Belgrade. Make sure to spend a few days away from the city and explore Serbia s stunning hills, wide rivers and rainforests. We have all this, and the best part is that you can find everything from the luxury hotels to backpacker hostels in nearly every single town in Serbia.

Serbia is a truly spectacular country in Southeast Europe, it also has a rich culinary culture and diverse geography, boasting beautiful mountain peaks and scenic hills. Its medieval cities and natural beauty make the land one of the most sought-after destinations by tourists from around the world.

Don’t take my word for that, just look for Serbia travel videos on YouTube and you be the judge. But there are so many things Serbia has to offer.

Belgrade

If you’re looking for a place to visit that’s both good for the soul and tasty, look no further than Belgrade, Serbia.

Belgrade is a city steeped in history and culture, but it also has a lot of modern amenities: great food, beautiful architecture, and a diverse population. It’s an ideal place to visit if you’re interested in seeing what life was like before the modern era. At the same time, it’s not too far removed from today—you can still find plenty of people who speak English or other languages besides Serbian, so you’ll never feel lost or confused when traveling around the city.

Visit the Kalemegdan Fortress-The Kalemegdan Fortress is one of the city’s most popular attractions. It’s an ancient fortification that was built in the 6th century, and it’s now a park that overlooks the Danube River.

Check out one of the many museums in Belgrade like Museum of Contemporary Art or Museum of Aviation; they both offer free admission!

If you’re looking for something more active than just sitting around your hotel room all day, try renting bikes at Happy Wheels Bike Shop and exploring.

One of the best things about Belgrade is its food scene: there are tons of restaurants serving up traditional Serbian dishes like ćevapi (small grilled sausages served with onions), pljeskavica (a type of hamburger patty), and gibanica (cheese pastry).

Subotica

This beautiful city is located in Northern Serbia and was once a part of Yugoslavia.

This city is known as a “jewel box” of architecture and history. You’ll find beautiful palaces and churches that date back hundreds of years—and they’re still standing strong today! You’ll also see some incredible modern architecture in this part of the world as well!

If you’re looking for a place to visit in Serbia, Subotica is the perfect spot!

You can go hiking and biking in the mountains, visit the famous fortress of Kalemegdan, or even learn how to make Serbian food.

And if you’re more of a cultural traveler, Subotica has plenty to offer there too. The city has a large number of museums and other historical sites worth visiting.

Visit The Subotica Zoo: This zoo was built in 1894 as an animal park with one lion cub from Budapest Zoo. Since then, it has expanded over time and now has over 1,000 animals from almost 200 different species.

It also includes an aquarium with over 1,000 fish species and several reptile houses that contain snakes, turtles and lizards from all over Europe!

Novi Sad

If you’re looking for a place to visit in Serbia, Novi Sad is a great option.

The city boasts beautiful architecture, delicious food, and a rich history that will keep you entertained for days.

With its buzzing nightlife, picturesque views, and delicious food, Novi Sad is a must-visit destination.

If you’re looking for an adventure, Novi Sad is the place for you. Located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, this city is full of history, culture, and incredible food. It’s also home to one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Serbia—St. Sava’s Cathedral—and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You can easily spend a day wandering through the winding streets and exploring the many shops in this vibrant city, but if you want to make it a longer trip, there are plenty of places nearby that are worth visiting.

You can take a boat ride on the Danube River or explore the nearby Petrovaradin Fortress in Vojvodina.

Go shopping at the Sava Centar Mall. This mall has everything from high-end department stores to local boutiques selling unique souvenirs and clothing items. You’ll find something for everyone here!

Prizren

Prizren is a city in Kosovo, and it’s one that really deserves a visit.

But if you’re looking for something more adventurous, Prizren also has some of the best hiking and rock climbing in the region.

Visit Pozhar Lake. Located just outside of town, this lake is a great place for swimming or fishing if you’re looking for something fun yet relaxing after a long day of exploring other parts of Prizren’s natural beauty.

Some of our favorite things to do in Prizren include exploring the old town, visiting the Ethnographic Museum of Kosovo, and taking a ride on The Old Town Bridge Tower—which is more than 160 years old!

Want something adventurous then visit Rastavica Waterfall Trail. This beautiful hiking trail takes you through some of the most gorgeous scenery in all of Serbia—it’s definitely worth checking out!

Prizren is also known for its food, so if you’re hungry after exploring this beautiful city then check out some local restaurants such as Bistro Sufi or Vatra (which serves traditional Serbian dishes).

Derdap National Park

Zlatibor

Zlatibor is a small town in western Serbia, and it’s the perfect place to visit if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s surrounded by mountains and forests, so there are plenty of things to do that will keep you entertained for days on end—and we’ve got some ideas for you!

First off, if you want to go hiking, there are tons of trails all over the area. You can start at one end of town or another and just keep going until it feels like enough. The views are breathtaking (and free) and there’s no better way to spend your time than exploring nature.

The food scene in Zlatibor is also fantastic! There are tons of restaurants where you can get delicious Serbian fare as well as international favorites like pizza and pasta—and they’re all reasonably priced too!

You can also enjoy some spa treatments at one of the local spas.

If you prefer something more relaxing, there are plenty of opportunities for fishing or canoeing on Lake Gruža.

If that isn’t enough for you, then take a trip up Mount Zlatibor—the highest peak in this region—and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding areas from its summit!

The climate is great and it’s perfect for hiking, camping, and enjoying nature.

You’ll also meet local people who are very friendly and helpful.

Studenica Monastery

If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, Studenica Monastery is the place to go. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it’s one of Serbia’s most popular tourist attractions.

When you visit Studenica Monastery, be sure to take a look at the architecture: it’s not just beautiful because it looks like it came out of an old fantasy novel (though that does help).

The monastery was founded by King Stefan Milutin in 1282. It started out as a small church but grew into a large complex with several chapels and bell towers. The main chapel has been preserved from that time period—it’s still used for religious services today!

The monastery complex includes a church, a bell tower, and a cave where monks used to pray. It also features frescoes painted by the famous Serbian painter Stefan Lazarević.

Visitors can also see a museum featuring some of the frescoes from inside these buildings, as well as artifacts like crosses, chalices, and other religious items that were found during excavations there over time.

Kopaonik National Park

Serbia is a country with a rich history and culture, but you don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy it. If you’re looking for some great outdoor activities in Serbia, Kopaonik National Park is a good place to start.

Located in central Serbia, Kopaonik National Park is about 150 miles southeast of Belgrade. It offers opportunities for hiking and mountain biking as well as skiing during the winter months.

There are also many other animals that live here such as boars, deers and rabbits. You can even spot some rare birds such as golden eagles that are protected by law!

The park has many excellent hiking trails through forests filled with trees like spruce, beech and fir trees. These trails are perfect for people who love nature but don’t want to get too far away from civilization at night time since there are plenty of hotels nearby (including some nice ones).

One thing that makes this place really special is its food! There are many restaurants serving traditional Serbian dishes like cevapi (meatballs), burek (pastry filled with meat or cheese), pita sa mesom (meat pie).

If you want something more exciting than just hiking then consider taking part in one of their adventure activities such as rock climbing or white water rafting. You could also go zip lining over their rivers or even try paragliding if you’re feeling adventurous enough!
