And let’s be honest, it’s hard to top the stunning alpine scenery and vast variety of festivals, events and local traditions that can only be found in this beautiful country.

Vienna – Walk Down The Glorious Past

Vienna is a city that is full of rich culture and history. There are many museums, art galleries and historical sites. The city has many beautiful parks and gardens where you can enjoy the sunshine or take a stroll through one of the many beautiful gardens.

Vienna has some of the most beautiful architecture in Europe, including many buildings designed by architect Otto Wagner (who also designed several buildings in New York City). Be sure to check out his Secession Building (which was originally built as a bank), Parliament Building (designed by Josef Olbrich), and Burgtheater (where Mozart performed). Also be sure not to miss St Stephen.

Take a walk through the inner city area (Innere Stadt) with its many sights like the Vienna State Opera House or St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom).

Grossglockner Alpine Road

The Grossglockner Alpine Road is one of the best places to visit in Austria. It’s a beautiful drive through some of the most iconic scenery in Europe, with gorgeous views of mountains and valleys, and endless opportunities for hiking and walking.

The road boasts breathtaking views of some of the highest peaks in Europe including the Grossglockner mountain (3,798 meters). The road itself is around 180 km long and makes up part of European route E551.

It’s advisable to avoid driving during winter months as the road can be closed due to heavy snowfall or because of avalanche risks. The Grossglockner tunnel adds an extra 60 km to your journey but it will protect you from any weather conditions that may cause issues on top of your car!

-Visit Mozart’s Birthplace: This house is located on Getreidegasse 9 where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756. The house has been restored to look like it would have when Mozart lived there. There is an exhibition room inside where you can learn about his life. 

-Visit Hohensalzburg Fortress: This fortress was built by Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein during 12th century AD as a symbol of power over the city of Salzburg and also as a defense against invaders from Italy and Germany. It offers great views over Salzburg’s Old Town and surrounding mountainside.
