Must visit Places in Azerbaijan

Tourists in countries like the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom may know about Azerbaijan, but can your neighbors? If you live in a country considered to be a “developed nation” you may think there isn’t much of interest to see. This can be a cultural mistake. Even if your neighbors aren’t particularly adventurous they might enjoy the great food and hospitality Azerbaijan has to offer. In this article I’ve included tips on places to visit, things to do and of course; the food!

There are so many secrets this country is holding that you’ll be delighted to discover more and more about it. Though it was off-the-beaten-track for a long time, today the photo of the Maiden Tower, an ancient tower symbolizing Azerbaijan’s strength via perseverance, is featured in the front of any touristic guide book and the image itself has become a part of international photography history as one of the most beautiful pictures ever taken.

Baku

Baku, Azerbaijan is an incredible city. It’s full of culture, history, and delicious food.

Visit the Old City of Baku: The Old City has many beautiful mosques and buildings that date back hundreds of years. It is also a great place to visit for those who love history!

Visit the Flame Towers: These towers are located in the city center, and they offer some of the best views of Baku’s skyline.

There are tons of museums in Baku where you can learn about Azeri history and culture.

There are lots of cool places to stay while you’re visiting Baku. You can stay at an apartment overlooking one of the many beautiful fountains in Baku or rent out an entire houseboat (yes—houseboats!) on the Caspian Sea.

One must definitely visit The Caspian Sea- This body of water is the largest lake in the world. It’s also called the “sea” because it’s so big that it connects with other seas, like the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea! You can see how it all connects on a boat tour around the city.

If you’re looking for some local food while visiting Baku, there are many restaurants that serve traditional dishes like pilaf (rice cooked with meat or vegetables), kebabs, khachapuri (cheese bread), etc.

If you are looking for an exciting vacation with lots of historical monuments and beautiful scenery, then Baku is the perfect place for you!

Astara 

Astara is located in Azerbaijan, and it’s a great place to visit if you want to experience some of the best food and culture in the country.

It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for some beach time or want to get up close with some of the local wildlife. The nearby beaches are said to be some of the best in the country, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities. You’ll also find plenty of shops selling locally-made items like pottery and jewelry.

If you’re looking for things to do, there are plenty! You can take a ride on the cable car to get up close with nature, or go hiking through one of many beautiful trails. You can also visit one of the museums in Astara, which feature exhibits on local art and history.

And of course there’s always food! Astara is home to many delicious restaurants where you can try traditional Azerbaijani cuisine like kebabs or pilafs. You can even find some great international food here too—including Italian pasta dishes that were inspired by Persian cuisine!tara

Sheki

Sheki is a beautiful place to visit. The city holds many attractions, including its high-quality food, amazing natural landscape, and historical sites.

There are many activities that can be enjoyed in the area. One of these is hiking through the mountains and visiting the local villages. You can also take part in horseback riding or kayaking along one of the rivers that run through Sheki.

The region has a long history of tourism with many ancient monuments that are worth visiting. It has many historical places like: the ruins of the castle, the mosque “Goygol”, “Magham” waterfalls and others.

There are many restaurants, cafes, pubs and night clubs where you can eat delicious food, drink coffee or alcohol and dance until morning hours!

In addition to all this, Sheki City has some interesting places where you can spend your time.

Ganja City

Ganja is a city in Azerbaijan, located near the border with Iran and Armenia. It’s considered one of the most picturesque places in Azerbaijan, known for its rich history and stunning natural beauty.

Visit the Old Town: The Old Town or ‘Icheri Sheher’ as it is known in Azeri has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as it is one of the best examples of a city from the Islamic period.

One of the main attractions in Ganja is the Goygol Lake. This lake is known for its beautiful scenery and relaxing atmosphere. It’s also known as one of the cleanest lakes in all of Azerbaijan.

Visit the Ganja Fortress-You can also visit a small museum inside the fortress that showcases artifacts from its past as well as other historical sites around town like mosques and cemeteries.

There are many interesting places around Ganja City that you can visit such as Aghsu Falls, Shaki Waterfalls, Bibi-Heybat Mosque and much more! 

There are many restaurants serving traditional food such as kebab, kofta, shashlik and more! You can try them all!

Absheron National Park

If you’re looking for a place to visit in Azerbaijan, consider Absheron National Park. This park is located on the shores of the Caspian Sea, and it’s home to a variety of natural wonders, including waterfalls and caves.

Located in Azerbaijan, this park has all the natural beauty you could want. It’s filled with mountains, forests and rivers, making it a great place to explore.

One of the most popular attractions within the park is Giz Galasi (the Maiden Tower). This tower was built by local residents in 1221 as part of an ancient defense system designed against invaders from foreign lands.

Another must-see spot within Absheron National Park is Kuyubalu Cave – a limestone cave located near Baku Bay (which you can see from Giz Galasi). 

In addition to being a great place to relax, Absheron National Park is also a great place to eat! You’ll find plenty of delicious dishes here, including traditional Azerbaijani cuisine like soups and stews made with local ingredients like lamb or vegetables grown in the surrounding area.

And while it was originally intended as a place to protect wildlife and plants, it has grown into a popular tourist attraction as well. Today, you can take guided tours through the park and enjoy activities like biking or hiking through its many trails.

Another great way to experience Absheron National Park is by taking a boat ride on one of its many lakes or rivers.

The best way to explore the park is by going on a hiking trip. You will be able to see some of the most beautiful views in the world while getting some exercise and fresh air. The park has many trails that will take you through different ecosystems and landscapes, allowing you to experience all that Azerbaijan has to offer.

The Caspian Sea

The Caspian Sea is a place where you can go to relax, have fun with friends, and take in the sights of one of the oldest civilizations on earth.

The Caspian Sea is home to many different types of wildlife including: sturgeon, salmon, sea bass and other species of fish. There are also many different types of birds that can be found at The Caspian Sea including: pelicans and seagulls. The area around The Caspian Sea is also home to many different types of trees including: oak trees, pine trees and other varieties.

There are many things to do in Azerbaijan including hiking through the mountains, visiting historical sites like Maiden Tower and Palace of Shaki Khans, and exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape.

You can also take advantage of all the museums and landmarks here—including the Old City Wall, which dates back to the 12th century!

The Caspian Sea is a great place for both tourists and locals alike because it has so much to offer in terms of food options. There are many different restaurants located throughout The Caspian Sea which serve up some delicious food options such as: shashlik (meat on skewers), Borscht (beet soup) or even more traditional dishes like kebab 

There are many different ways you can spend your time while visiting The Caspian Sea such as: swimming in the water or even walking along one of their famous beaches!

Shamakhi

If you’re looking for an exotic vacation spot, you’ve found it. Shamakhi is a city that has managed to retain its ancient charm while modernizing and growing. While it’s not on the same level as Dubai or Abu Dhabi in terms of luxury and opulence, this city has plenty of opportunities for adventure.

The old town of Shamakhi is the perfect place for any adventurer who wants to learn about the city’s past while still enjoying modern amenities.

You prefer more active activities like hiking or swimming instead of museums, there are plenty of options for those too! Head over to Mount Gorbebi for some great views of the city below; then head north towards Yeralash Lake for some more beautiful scenery.

You can walk through the ruins of an old city wall, or climb up to the top of a hill to see a statue of Alexander the Great. There are also plenty of beautiful gardens and parks where you can enjoy some time outdoors.

One thing that makes this city special is its food scene. You can try traditional dishes like pilaf and kebabs, or find new favorites like blueberry pie or baklava.

Heydar Aliyev Centre

Heydar Aliyev Centre is a must-visit for anyone travelling to Azerbaijan. The building was designed by Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid, and it’s been called the “pearl of Baku” and the “most important building in the country”.

The centre is located in the heart of Baku, on the shores of the Caspian Sea and close to the city’s beautiful beaches. It’s also near many historical sites, including the Maiden Tower and Nizami Street.

The centre was built in remembrance of the first President of Azerbaijan. It’s a beautiful skyscraper with a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as an art gallery.

This place is full of culture and history, which makes it a must visit for those who are interested in architecture or politics. The building itself has been designed by Italian architect Paolo Portoghesi who used elements from traditional Azerbaijani architecture such as domes, minarets and chandeliers.

If you like food, then this is the place for you. There are several restaurants including a buffet restaurant and a coffee shop, plus more than 30 cafes that offer a variety of foods and drinks. You can also enjoy shopping at the gift shops located around the complex.
